Fall Porch Decor

Bless Fall's heart..... I feel like it woke up late and has been trying to get itself together to get here, but has just been running sooooo late.  Fall, it is ok, we all oversleep occasionally but we are really going to need you to get it together.  I think several of us may be on round two or three of fall plants because the heat is just relentless.  Fortunately, some of you have pushed through and even been willing to share your Fall Porch Decor with us.

First up, is my friend Melanie.  Melanie would not be deterred she decorated early and beautifully.  I think her brick color is the perfect backdrop for a fall scene.

She has all my favorite things, plantings, tin items, pumpkins and honestly the sunflowers.

And just around her hedges.......

She added a fun fall flag and more pumpkins.

I love it.  Wouldn't you feel welcomed approaching her door?  I totally would.  Thanks for welcoming through pictures, Melanie, it is so lovely.

Next up, is sweet Taylor. She also would not be deterred by summer hanging on like crazy.  She has two small children and still manages to know what season it is and that is amazing to me.  Check out her front porch

I absolutely love the sentiment on her rug.  And I really want a large wooden sign like that.  My favorite thing about her porch is how personalized it is.  I love the "M" on her wreath and the special date on her sign.

So very cute, Taylor, I totally want to ring your doorbell and come in for a cup of cider.......and I wouldn't mind holding those sweet kiddos too!  Thanks for sharing with us.

Lastly, summer and I battled it out with some mums.  Summer won.  But I persevered with some black eye susans.......take that, summer.

Here's my street view

and here's the view from the front door

I bought these wooden planters from Wal Mart........no, I did not go to the store.  You all know Wal Mart and I have a fragile relationship.  But I did order these planters on line. You get all three for under $60 and free shipping.

As  you can see I did a mound of pumpkins and gourds in the largest one and planted two black-eyed susans in the other two.

I really like how they turned out.

All the weather people say the temps are turning....so if you haven't decorated yet maybe it is safe to do so now.  I am still watering those mums......we will see if they revive or not.

Happy Decorating!

See you back on Friday!

A New Room.....

I don't know how you approach decorating but I pretty much just walk around Homegoods and Hobby Lobby, find stuff I like and then try to think of where I can use it.  This apparently is not how it is done.  My friend, Katy, who you might remember we talked about here is an Interior Designer.  I asked Katy to redo our guest room/gift wrap room.......So it is a guest room most of the time but when there is no guest, I go to town wrapping gifts in there.

Please pop over to Katy's page to see all the before and afters.

https://hope-overflowing.blogspot.com/

I cannot tell you how much we love it.  Katy really has an eye.   There was not one thing that she purchased that we returned.  I LOVED it all.   And guess what, guys......apparently when you stay focused and do one room at a time, things really come together.

She is super easy to work with, extremely affordable and very talented.  And do you know how good it felt for it to all come together and I didn't have to run all over town searching for stuff?  Well let me tell you, it felt great.

I can't pick a favorite thing in there.  I love all the individual elements and I love them even more as they all work together.

By the way, please forgive the before pictures.....I am not sure what I have been thinking for the past few years, but this room totally needed attention.

Katy works at all price points, you determine your budget....and from one shopper to another I must give her serious props for what she accomplished in there.

Check out the pictures and then contact her if you have a project she can help you with.

Come back on Friday and let's start getting loose for some Black Friday Shopping......don't worry we just going to ease into things.....we still have a whole week to get ready.

The First Signs of Fall

I am well aware that Fall doesn't officially begin until the 22nd of September but when I wake up and it is in the 50's.....I just fully jump into fall.  Fall doesn't stay around long.  So I declare it early and try to enjoy it as much as possible.  I immediately went to my Fall Board on Pinterest to get inspired.

I settled in on making these little yarn pumpkins.

Here is all you need.

Yarn, scissors, pipe cleaners and twine if you want to make it into  a garland.

You simply wrap the yarn around your hand.  The Pin said 120 times.  I thought that was a mighty plump pumpkin and opted to only wrap it 80 times.

Then you cut a 10 inch piece of yarn and tie it around your yarn bundle.  you want to go thru your fingers capturing the front and back.

You then cut a green pipe cleaner into thirds.  Take one of those pieces and tie it onto your pumpkin, twist it together and bend it to make a stem.

The Pin tied several onto the twine to make a pumpkin garland.  Here's how I put it together

I had some little burlap pennants and some little canvas ones that I layered together and stapled onto the twine just to add a little something extra.

This was a quick, fun and inexpensive little craft.

Pinterest people are quite creative.  Please feel free to follow me on Pinterest, if you like.  I try to pin some really fun things......and then I even try out a few and show them to you here.

After the craft I pulled out my fall bin and began decorating other areas around the house.

Some fall leaves for the front door.

Fall flowers for the dining room buffet.

including a little pumpkin painting by my youngest

Fancied up the dining room table with my fall tablecloth from William Sonoma and a glass pumpkin I found at Marshalls

These little succulent candles came from Crate and Barrel and make the perfect little napkin topper.

A few faux pumpkins and leaves by the front door.

Pumpkins and candles by the fireplace.

I got this pretty jar for my birthday in May.  Until now it has held some dainty white summer flowers.  I traded those out for some fall wheat.

Homegoods has a great selection of fall pillows.  I went there to buy some drawer organizers and I came out with these fall pillows.

And these....

And just as I was about to make it to the checkout counter, I found this plaid paper runner for $3.99. Ok, yes, get in the shopping cart.....you can come home with us too.
It was just enough for the kitchen table.

Then I made our favorite fall snack - candy corn and dry roasted peanuts.

And lit a great candle from Bath and Body.

And then in a stroke of extra good fortune, I saw where Hallmark is debuting some new fall movies starting on September 23rd.  Thank you, Hallmark! Click here for the details.

Ok, Fall, I hope you enjoy your stay. I certainly will.
