I am here for you forest.  I am here for you.

Here's what I read in April.

I feel really bad saying I don't like a book.  I mean I am sure Ms. Hoover spent a lot of time and creative energy writing this one.  And I am sure that some people will really enjoy it.  But I just didn't.  It reminded me of something that I would have read years ago. The plot was too predictable for me.  It is your typical girl wants to date boy, boy is unavailable, boy eventually falls for girl.......you get it.  But probably what I really didn't like was that the majority of their conversations take place as text messages and so it is like reading a novel off of a phone.  So I am sure it is a lovely book, I am probably just too old for it.

So next.....

I NEEDED a home run.  I NEEDED a great read so I went to one of my favorites.  Charles Martin.  I have read all of his books.  I have loved 99.9% of them.  There was this one that I thought was just ok.  But he writes beautifully.  I want to be friends with most of his characters.  The books are always clean language, clean in general and they always get you thinking about life.  He has a gift. So I went to his new release,  Long Way Gone.

By page three I was besties with the main character. Liked him right way.  The story was good.  Very Good.  This one is not predictable and kept me interested throughout.

Now if you are new to Charles Martin, please don't read this one first.  It is good but it is not his best.  Instead, start out with this one....

or this one.....

Soon to be a major motion picture starring Kate Winslet and Idris Elba.  So maybe start with this one because you will be ready for the movie when it comes out.

I am starting May with a new author for me.  So far so good......a little bit of a potty mouth but I will see how it goes.  I have a good feeling about May.  The last time I was on Amazon they had all these new books in my "you might like" section.  Well thank you, Amazon, I think I might like 2 or 3 of these also.  So hopefully I have some good ones on the way to me. I hope you are finding some good reads too.  If you read something really spectacular, please share.
