Graduation Gifts - a few ideas

Tis the season for graduations. Yes, like you I will be handing out a lot of cash.  It is the gift of choice.  But there may be some that you desire to give a little something different or extra.

High School graduations are opening the door to quite a transition for some of these kids.  Having a little something to remind them of home and the people who are cheering them on could be a real plus.

If you are looking for a way to present a cash gift, pinterest has some cute ideas
1) for the class of 2017 you tape a $20 bill in a card with a dime, a nickle and two pennies.......get it?
2) filling a jar with dollar bills rolled and wrapped like diplomas
3) if they are going to a college where they will be paying for laundry, you can fill a new reusable water bottle with quarters
4) Take an empty candy box (you know the ones that have all the different little sections for the various chocolates) and fill each section with various denominations of money

Gift cards and cash can always be nicely presented in a book.  There are several books that are inspirational to the graduate:
1) The Wonderful Things You Will Be
2) Looking for Lovely
3) I Wish You More
4) Whatever You Are Be a Good One
5) Let's All Be Brave

And devotionals are always appropriate
I am a fan of all the Jesus Calling devotionals

Practical gifts that you know will be used include:
Laundry pods
Dryer Sheets
Favorite Candy and snacks
Gift cards for nearby fast food (everyone needs a break from the cafeteria)
Gift cards for a nice restaurant (everyone needs a break from fast food)
Gas gift cards
Gift card to the bookstore at the college they will be attending
Command Hooks

Our school does a really nice thing for the graduates.  Anyone can write a letter or card to a graduate.  They put them all together and give them to the student.  This was one of the favorite things for my daughter.  She loved reading them all and took them to college with her.  If you have a graduate, you could send an email to family and friends asking them to participate in something similar for your child.  If you don't have a graduate still fun to do for someone.  Never underestimate the power of an encouraging word.

If you are local The Pants Store is having 20% off their ENTIRE store thru Sunday.  They have lots of cute caps, jewelry and t-shirts.....especially some cute ones with HSV on them which might be fun for a kid to take off to school with them.  They also have Yeti cups and travel mugs that would cute to stick a gift card, cash or candy in.  And if you are like me and you like to balance your shopping.....you know one for them, one for you.....they have Chacos and Antelope shoes, Hobo Handbags and tons of cute clothes.

And let us not forget other upcoming occassions, birthdays, Father's Day and even Christmas.

Have a great weekend.  Enjoy some good Mexican food for Cinco de Mayo!!!! Bring on the queso!!!!
